Hello 2017!

January 5, 2017

Happy 2017! May your 2017 be filled with happiness, laughter, and prosperity.

2016 had brought me so much joy. One of the biggest turning points for me was meeting my current manager.

Truthfully it was completely unintentional, but one small incident leads me to drive me somehow away from acting. Usually, I try to post things that are pretty and stories or products that are fun and inspiring but life isn’t always picture perfect, is it?

While I was away from acting, I thought my passion for acting would come back over time. However, unlike when you were young and fearless, it took me longer for me to want to get back in the industry again. Honestly, I was scared that I wasn’t getting any younger and wasn’t sure if I still had what it take to face the nature of the industry’s ups & downs once again. I now know that I needed some time off, but at the time, it seemed as thought my passion for acting had dried up. It may sound dramatic, but for someone like me who’s always focused only on my acting career, it was a huge deal. I didn’t know how to get out of this funk, had worked in different fields and started new projects, desperately looking for new passion, renewing this blog was one them.

At a time like this, looking at your Social Media can be toxic. Everyone seemed to be getting married and having kids, living the perfect life except for you. Hearing about younger actors get cast in the major projects, comparing you for no reason and get restless. ( I call this guinea pig on a wheel effect!)  You feel unimportant, irrelevance and helpless.

One day out of the blue, I meet my current manager through my former roommate who changed everything. Like I’ve been stuck in a long, dark tunnel that felt forever but some strange force or wind pushed me out of that tunnel for good. From that point on, everything became smooth sailing like what was going on before appeared to be an awful prank or something. Also, it felt like meeting my new manager had created this new chain reaction and brought me more wonderful encounters to work with incredibly talented directors, crew and cast members on projects I’m extremely excited.

Eventhough it was unintentional, I didn’t think it would take me this long to come back. In fact, I thought I might’ve never comeback but I’m poud to say that I’m finally back! and I’m simply very happy to be back at acting. For most of us, actors, we all need to go through multiple auditions (imagine having interviews and meetings everytime you look for work) and unless they choose and tell you that “We want you. It has to be you”  we are always out of work… so I’m truly grateful to be wanted and working again.

So in 2017, I’d like to cherish and nurture these relationships I’ve gained in 2016, to find happiness within myself and not comparing from the others and grow as a person.
